November 11, 2007 RENO, NV -- The city celebrated its Veterans with a parade down the middle of town. The streets were lined with families and Veterans from all walks of life. Unfortunately, I happened upon this parade as it was wrapping up, but did get a few shots off before the street sweeper came by to clean up what the horses conveniently left behind. November 09, 2007 TACOMA, WA -- Local Law Enforcement was on high alert as a group of young protesters assembled in the downtown area to voice their opposition to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Center, known as ICE, a Homeland Security detention facility hidden in the Tacoma area that can hold up to 1000 undocumented workers. Their fight is with The Geo Group, a company that designs, finances, builds, and manages prisons worldwide. Wells Fargo Bank, one of the five major shareholders in the venture. And Kellogg, Brown and Root (KBR), a Halliburton subsidiary (Dick Cheney company), a company that has had a major part in the building of these facilities around the country. Recently 300 incarcerated individuals fell seriously ill from food poisoning and since 2004 sixty-four have died for various reasons, giving the protesters reason to demand closure of this and the other facilities. September 6, 2007 DAVENPORT, IA -- A replica of the sailing craft Nina, one of Christopher Columbus' ships used to discover the New World, docked at the Oneida Landing on September 6 for an 11 day stay. Built in Brazil in 1991, the ship is an exact copy of the original and travels the world year round as a moving maritime museum. She was featured in the 1992 film 1492 directed by Ridley Scott and starring Gerard Depardieu. |

Gluba, the third to announce, vowed to bring economic growth to the city and to get the divided city council back to working together again. The wall is produced by the American Veterans Traveling Tribute (www.avtt.org) and travels the country during the summer months to give those who havent seen the original a chance to see a replica of the Memorial. |
